Discounts and Member Pricing
Add a percentage discount to any invoice or estimate before tax, and see how service agreement members get their plan discount automatically.
At a Glance
- Add a percentage discount to any invoice or estimate from the Totals card
- Discounts come off the subtotal before tax; fees are never discounted
- Customers on an active service agreement get their plan discount applied automatically
Give a customer a percentage off an invoice or estimate, and let service agreement members get their plan discount without you lifting a finger.
Adding a Discount
Discounts live in the Totals card of the invoice or estimate editor, directly under the Subtotal.
- Open the invoice or estimate
- In the Totals card, tap Add discount
- Enter the Discount (%), from 0 to 100, with decimals allowed
- Enter the Label shown to the customer, such as "Spring special" or "Repeat customer"
- Tap Save
The discount line appears as a negative amount below the subtotal, with the label you typed. If you leave the label blank, it reads "Discount - 10%" (with your rate).
To change it later, tap Edit discount. To take it off, tap Remove inside the dialog.
How Discounts Are Calculated
| Line | Effect |
|---|---|
| Subtotal | Sum of your line items |
| Discount | Percentage of the subtotal, shown as a negative amount |
| Fees | Added after the discount; fees are never discounted |
| Tax | Calculated on the discounted taxable amount |
| Tip | Added last; never taxed or discounted |
WorkSnap stores the rate, not just the dollar amount. If you edit a line item or add a change order, the discount is recomputed from the new subtotal so it stays correct.
Where the Discount Shows
The discount line appears everywhere totals do:
- The invoice and estimate editors
- The in-app preview
- The customer's share page and Customer Portal
- The PDF
Member Pricing from Service Agreements
If a customer has an active service agreement with a member discount, WorkSnap applies it automatically the moment you create an invoice or estimate for them, including invoices created from an estimate or a job.
- The line is labeled with the plan name and rate, for example "Comfort Club - 10%"
- The rate is copied onto the document when it is created, so changing the plan later never re-prices an invoice you already sent
- A paused or cancelled agreement stops applying the discount to new documents
- If you already added a manual discount, the member discount is not applied over it
To change a member discount on one document, tap Edit discount. The dialog notes that the discount comes from the customer's service agreement, and that changing it makes it a manual discount on this document only. The agreement itself is not affected.
Tips
- Keep the label customer-friendly. It prints on the PDF, so "Neighbor referral" reads better than "disc".
- Discounts are per document. An estimate's discount carries onto the invoice when you convert it.
- Snap Proposals show a discount line but the control to add one lives on the estimate and invoice editors.
See the pricing page for which plans include service agreements.

- 2Totals recalculate automatically if you edit line items or add a change order
- 3Edit or remove the discount at any time from the same button
Common Questions
- Can I discount a fixed dollar amount instead of a percentage?
- Not today. Discounts are a percentage of the subtotal, from 0% to 100%. To take a fixed amount off, work out the percentage, or add a note explaining the credit.
- Why did a discount appear on an invoice I didn't add one to?
- The customer has an active service agreement with a member discount. WorkSnap applies it when you create an invoice or estimate for them, and labels the line with the plan name and rate.
- Does the discount reduce the tax?
- Yes. The discount is taken off before tax is calculated, and only the discounted taxable amount is taxed. Tips are never taxed or discounted.
