Getting Started

Finding Anything Fast with Search

Press Cmd/Ctrl+K or tap the search icon to jump to any customer, invoice, estimate, Snap Proposal, or job, and use the New menu to create one.

At a Glance

  • Press Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows) anywhere in the app to open Search
  • On your phone, tap the search icon in the header
  • Find customers, invoices, estimates, Snap Proposals, and jobs by name, number, or customer

Search reaches every customer, invoice, estimate, Snap Proposal, and job in your account from one box.

On a computer: press Cmd+K on a Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows from any page in the app. The same shortcut closes it again. You can also click Search in the header.

On your phone: tap the search icon in the header at the top of the screen.

Type at least two characters. Results appear as you type, grouped in this order:

Group Matches on
Customers Name, company name, or email address
Invoices Invoice number, or any invoice for a matching customer
Estimates Estimate number, or any estimate for a matching customer
Snap Proposals Proposal number, or any proposal for a matching customer
Jobs Job name or description, or any job for a matching customer

Searching for a customer's name is the fastest way to reach one of their documents: every invoice, estimate, proposal, and job for "Sarah Johnson" shows up under its own group.

Each group shows up to five results. Each result lists the customer, the amount, and the status so you can pick the right one without opening it.

Opening a Result

Tap or click a result, or use the arrow keys and press Enter, to open that record. Search closes and clears itself when you leave.

Tips

  • Numbers work too. Type "0047" to find INV-0047, or "P00" to list proposals (proposal numbers look like P00042).
  • Inactive customers are hidden. Deleted or inactive customers do not appear. Restore the customer first if you need their history.
  • Job descriptions count. Words in a job's description match, so "furnace" finds the job even if the job name is just the street address.

Creating Instead of Finding

Search finds existing records. To create a new one on your phone, tap the orange New button in the middle of the bottom bar. It opens a menu with New Invoice, New Estimate, New Job, New Customer, and Record Payment.

What Happens Next

  1. 1Pick a result to jump straight to that record
  2. 2Use the New button on your phone to create something new instead
  3. 3Add customer emails so email searches find them too

Common Questions

Why does Search say it needs at least 2 characters?
Search starts after you type two characters so it can return focused results instead of everything in your account. Keep typing to narrow the list.
Why do I only see five results in a group?
Each group (Customers, Invoices, Estimates, Snap Proposals, Jobs) shows its five best matches. Type more of the name or number to get to the record you want.
Does Search remember what I searched before?
No. Closing Search clears the box and the results, so it always opens empty.
