On My Way, Text, and Directions
Send an On My Way notice by email or text from a job, text a customer in one tap, and open directions to the job site.
At a Glance
- Send an On My Way notice from an active job by email or text message
- Text a customer with one tap from their customer page
- Get directions to a customer address or a job site in your maps app
Three one-tap tools for the drive to the job: tell the customer you are coming, text them directly, and pull up directions.
Sending an On My Way Notice
The On My Way button appears on a job's page when the job is Active and has a customer.
- Open the job
- Tap On My Way below the status card
- Under Send by, choose Email or Text message
- Optionally enter an Estimated arrival, such as "15 minutes" or "2:30 PM"
- Optionally add a short Message, such as "Please leave the gate unlocked"
- Tap Send Email or Send Text
You will see "On My Way sent!" when it goes out.
Email or Text?
| Option | What the customer gets | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| A short email titled "Your business is on the way!" with the job name, your arrival time, and your message | No credits used | |
| Text message | A one-line text: "Your business is on the way, arriving around 2:30 PM. Please leave the gate unlocked." | At least 1 SMS credit |
The dialog shows the email address and phone number it will use, and how many SMS credits you have left. It starts on Email whenever the customer has an email address, because email is free.
If you run out of credits, the dialog tells you and offers to send by email instead. Buy more credits under Settings > Billing.
Missing Contact Details
If the customer has no email address and no phone number, the dialog shows an Add contact details link to the customer record. Add one and come back to the job.
Texting a Customer
On a customer's page, the phone number is a Call link, and a Text button sits beside it. Tapping Text opens your phone's messaging app with the number filled in, so you write the message yourself.
The Text button appears only when the number on file can receive a text. Extensions are dropped automatically, so "555-123-4567 ext 202" texts 555-123-4567.
Getting Directions
A Directions button appears next to:
- The address on a customer's page
- The job site address on a job's page
Tapping it opens the address in Google Maps in a new tab. On a phone, that hands off to the Google Maps app or your default maps app. Job site addresses are used when they differ from the customer's billing address, so you are routed to where the work is.

- 3Directions open in Google Maps, or the Maps app on your phone
Common Questions
- Does sending On My Way by text cost anything?
- Yes. A text uses at least one SMS credit from your plan. Sending by email uses no credits, so the dialog defaults to email whenever the customer has an email address.
- Why don't I see the Text message option?
- The customer needs a phone number on file that can receive texts, and text messaging must be switched on for your account. If either is missing, the dialog explains what to add.
- Can I customize what the customer receives?
- You can add an estimated arrival time and a short message. The rest of the notice, your business name and the job, is filled in for you.
